The road safety team at Pembrokeshire County Council is offering Biker Down! Cymru and Dragon Rider Cymru courses this financial year, assisted by a road safety grant from the Welsh Government.
Biker Down! Cymru is a free 3-hour course for motorcyclists wishing to enhance their knowledge and broaden their experience in dealing with incidents or collisions that may require first aid at the roadside.
The course will give participants a better understanding of what to do if they come across a road traffic collision and how to manage it safely.

A shared commitment to motorcyclists’ safety At this time of year, we are likely to see a lot more motorcyclists enjoying the freedom of riding on the wonderful scenic roads Wales has to offer.
With that freedom comes a responsibility on bikers to put safety first and always ride in accordance with the law and appropriate to the traffic conditions.
In Wales, a person using a motorcycle is 58 times more likely to be killed or seriously injured than they are when travelling by car. Motorists sharing the road responsibly can help improve this concerning situation.

Neath Port Talbot Council has announced a number of motorcycle courses for 2025/26, which are subsidised by the Welsh Government.
Dragon Rider Cymru is a motorcycle rider training course supported by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency Enhanced Rider Scheme.
Neath Port Talbot's road safety team has worked to develop this course of advanced rider skills which is delivered by experienced and qualified motorcycle instructors who are accredited by the DVSA Register of Post-Test Motorcycle Instructors under the Enhanced Rider Scheme.

A campaign aimed at reducing the risk of motorcycle-related deaths and serious injuries on the roads is now underway across North Wales.
The annual Operation Apex campaign (previously called Operation Darwen) runs from early spring through until the autumn, covering a period that sees the highest number of motorcyclists killed or seriously injured. The campaign is aimed at promoting rider safety and will see high visibility patrols being carried out along key routes which have been identified as risk areas.
Over the coming months, officers from the North Wales Police Roads Crime Unit will be on active patrol across the region and will also be engaging with riders at popular biker meeting spots.

Officers patrolled the Alway, Ringland, Lliswerry and Maindee areas of Newport recently as part of Operation Harley, the Gwent Police approach to combating the illegal use of off-road bikes in Gwent.
An electric motorcycle that was being driven without insurance in Alway was seized and a suspected stolen e-bike from Lliswerry was recovered.
Officers also arrested a man in Ringland on suspicion of supplying a controlled drug of class A - cocaine.

North Wales Police officers from the Roads Crime Unit visited a motorcycle safety course at Rhyl Fire Station on Saturday to show their support.
Biker Down! Cymru is a free course, taught only by emergency service professionals on how to keep an injured motorcyclist alive until the ambulance arrives.
It was created by Jim Sanderson from Kent Fire and Rescue Service and is taught all over the UK by emergency service personnel who are dedicated to saving the lives of others and helping the public to know what to do should they arrive at the scene of a motorcycle collision.

The newly launched Wheels2Work initiative in Torfaen allows eligible participants to hire one of the four brand new mopeds for up to six months.
The scheme will also cover the cost of Compulsory Basic Training licences, which drivers need to ride mopeds legally on public roads.

As part of ongoing efforts to reduce motorcycle-related deaths and serious injuries on the roads of North Wales officers from the Roads Crime Unit held a special operation over the weekend using the NPAS (National Police Air Service) fixed wing aircraft.
Officers in marked and unmarked cars targeted the A494, A5 and A487 in the Gwynedd South area on Sunday, 9 June, roads which feature in KSI (killed or seriously injured) statistics in the area.
Temporary Sergeant Leigh McCann of the Roads Crime Unit said: “The aircraft was useful in locating and directing officers on the ground to areas where motorcycles were seen being ridden in an anti-social manner.
