People across Ceredigion are being invited to share their views on how walking, wheeling and cycling routes can be made safer, easier and more accessible for everyone as part of a new public consultation on the County’s future Active Travel Network Map.
Under the Active Travel (Wales) Act 2013, all local authorities in Wales are required to submit updated Active Travel Network Maps to the Welsh Government by December 2026. These maps play an important role in supporting the planning, delivery and funding of active travel schemes, helping to create more integrated, accessible and sustainable travel networks for everyday journeys.
The consultation focuses on the County’s designated Active Travel localities of Aberystwyth, Cardigan and Lampeter, which have been identified by the Welsh Government. Residents, businesses and community groups are encouraged to have their say on existing routes and suggest where improvements or new connections could be introduced.

A project to transform the St David’s Road subway in Cwmbran has now been completed. The subway has been resurfaced to improve drainage, and new lighting has been installed to create a safer, brighter and more welcoming route for those using it.
As a finishing touch, stunning new artwork has been added to the subway walls. The murals were designed by students from Coleg Gwent and brought to life in collaboration with street artist Tee2Sugars, showcasing local creativity and pride.
Funded through the council’s Active Travel team, the improvements respond directly to community feedback and aim to encourage more people to walk, wheel and cycle through the area. Take a look next time you’re passing through - we hope you enjoy the transformation!

Road Safety Wales is reminding road users of the Fatal 5. Most people abide by the rules of the road but unfortunately a small minority choose to put themselves, their families and innocent road users at risk.
The Fatal 5:
Don’t Drink/Drug Drive - Don’t risk being one of the 100,000 drink or drug drivers caught each year, or you could face a minimum 12 month ban, a large fine, a criminal record or even imprisonment. Prescribed medication can still affect your ability to drive and therefore make you liable for prosecution so please check with your doctor or pharmacist.

The Community Bike Recycling and Skills Project is a newly formed a community-led initiative at Garnsychan Partnership Community Hub and Recycling Centre.
Working in partnership with Active Travel and Lloyds British Cycling, the project is expanding access to bike recycling, skills development, and volunteering opportunities across Torfaen. In light of previous structural changes within Changing Gearz a once Torfaen Borough led project, there was a clear need to strengthen and diversify pathways of support for young people, ensuring continuity, stability, and progression opportunities.
The Garnsychan Community Hub operates as a trauma-centred community hub, with over 12 years’ experience delivering employability, skills, and progression programmes for young people and adults facing multiple barriers stepped up to offer this support. Our expertise underpins the safe, inclusive, and supportive delivery of the bike recycling project, ensuring participants are engaged in a way that builds confidence, resilience, and long-term progression.
