Bedwas Pupils Share Their Anti-Drink Driving Message
Pupils from Bedwas High School, have for the third consecutive year, been announced as winners of the Anti-Drink Driving Poster Competition, run by Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Every year the Road Safety Team arranges the competition which encourages school pupils to design a poster to remind residents of the serious consequences of drink driving. Bedwas High School has once again created some exceptional pieces of artwork, highlighting the risk a drink driver causes to themselves and other road users.
At a presentation on Friday 15 December, Cabinet Member for Infrastructure, Cllr. Sean Morgan and Susan Davies, Road Safety Projects Officer, presented awards and professionally printed copies of their winning designs to the overall winner Ellie Austen and runners up Tegan Fletcher and Tahlia Edwards.
All three outstanding entries are also now on display at Ty Penallta in Ystrad Mynach and will be used on the Council’s website and social media over the Christmas period.
Cllr. Sean Morgan said: “Congratulations to Bedwas High School on another successful year with the Road Safety Poster Competition. Well done to Ellie, Tegan and Tahlia on their fantastic designs which definitely send home the hard hitting message of the dangers of drink driving.”
Caerphilly County Borough Council continues to work closely with Gwent Police on road safety initiatives and would like to remind residents that drinking alcohol and getting behind the wheel of a car and ruin the festivities forever.
